Face Foundations
Powder makeup in one form or another is a common staple in woman’s makeup supplies. In an attempt to fight the signs of aging and to attain flawless skin, woman flock to the cosmetic counter for products that will create a smooth, fresh and shine free face.
Powder makeup is available in two standard forms, compact and loose. The compact is the purse-friendly variety that opens up like a clam shell. The lower half contains powder that has been pressed into a small, thin cake. The upper half of the clam shell is a mirror to allow for easy application of the powder while away from the bathroom or vanity mirror. Nestled in between is the application pad. The pad is drawn across the powder and then rubbed on the face to transfer the powder.
Loose powder is exactly as the name implies. It is a loose powder that has not been compressed into a cake. It is usually contained in a small box that has holes similar to a salt shaker. The applicator pad or puff is placed over the holes and the box is flipped over to allow some of the powder to come out. Loose powder is not as travel-friendly as the compact version.
